Monsoon madness is back. The University of Arizona Institute for Resilience is running its monsoon rainfall guessing game for the third year.
The Institute's Zac Guido says players will find more links to data that will help them make their forecasts on how much rain will come from this year's event.
"More information about the monsoon, how it works, the historical context, which we feel can inform peoples' estimates for their own forecasts," he said.
Starting Thursday, competitors can go online to register their predictions on rainfall in July, August, and September for Tucson, El Paso, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. The winner gets a $400 Amazon gift certificate.
Previous years' contestants have ranged from high school students to weather forecasting professionals.
