Davis-Monthan Air Force Base will be conducting training exercises using a blast simulator, meaning sounds that imitate battle-like situations may be audible near the base for the next two weeks.
Staff Sgt. Eric Flores says the team uses propane and oxygen to produce the sounds of explosions and weapon fire.
"Training in stressful environment gives exercise participants the most beneficial experience and strengthens their capability to complete the mission," Flores said.
He said explosive sounds will likely be easy to pick up in the area of south Golf Links Road, between Alvernon and Craycroft roads. He said there will also be an increased number of flights in the area.
