The Flowing Wells Unified School District contracted a company to provide it with emergency alert systems.

Safety technology company 911Cellular said in a media release it will provide technology including panic buttons and smartphone and computer apps that will allow those in Flowing Wells schools to discreetly call for help.

Using the products could trigger a lockdown or contact law enforcement. 911Cellular said it will make them available in every classroom.

AZPM asked Flowing Wells Unified School District for an interview about the service.

We were sent a statement by Assistant Superintendent Kimberley Parkinson:

"Our goal in using the 911 Cellular alert system is to empower employees to be able to initiate a lockdown at their site. Using 911 Cellular also helps us ensure that all employees on site receive a notification instantly so they may follow emergency procedures as quickly as possible."
