It's that time of year again -- light up the jack-o-lantern, grab some trick-or-treat candy, and turn up the volume to listen to the 16th annual Haunted Halloween Arizona Spotlight! Don't be too afraid, it's just some seasonal stories to give thrills and chills in the Tucson night!
- Live Theatre Workshop is presenting a new production of “Misery”, the play by William Goldman based on the novel by Stephen King. Meet Lesley Abrams and Brendan Guy Murphy, who are bringing this harrowing tale of fear, obsession and awkward laugh to life.
- Emmy award-winning designer David Korins has provided sets for more than 25 Broadway shows, including Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Annie and The Pee Wee Herman Show. A current exhibit at The Mini-Time Machine Museum of Miniatures presents an immersive, up-close look at Korins’ work. He visited Tucson to open the exhibition, and Sophia Hammer talks with him about paying tribute to the imaginative worlds of Tim Burton for the musical Beetlejuice.

The Tucson non-profit Literacy Connects sponsors a group of performers and musicians called “Stories That Soar!”. They help young writers realize the power and potential of bringing their stories to life, for the stage, video, and radio. We are now presenting these stories on the first Thursday of every month here on Arizona Spotlight. This month’s "Stories That Soar!" offers a seasonal tale written with relish by a 6th grader at Homer Davis Elementary, about the perils of doing a job no one wants to do. It's called “The Gravedigger”.

Aspiring student-age writers can submit their stories to The Magic Box Story Portal now!
- And, a new Ten-Minute Drama called “The Jack-O-Lantern” tells how the supernatural can invade suburbia, creating havoc for two young adults who are on their own. Written for radio by Alejandro Canelos, starring Esme Canelos, Owen Green, and Betsy Kruse Craig. With a score by Alejandro Canelos, produced by Mike Levy at 11:11 Studios.
