In order to combat the widening economic gap, different organizations are finding creative ways to provide affordable housing for those in need. The Vail School District is focusing on building a tiny home community to retain and provide resources for teachers and employees.
Finding affordable housing is a struggle for new instructors and Vail School District is the first in Arizona to try and remedy the issue by providing the option of tiny homes. Vail School District owns a 14-acre lot with room for 24 tiny homes that students from Cienega High School helped construct through the school's building-trades program. The cost for educators to buy the 400-square-foot house ranges from approximately $60,000 to $70,000. They also have an option to rent.
