SCOTUS sends six AZ death penalty cases back for resentencing

The move is the result of a ruling last month.

The U-S Supreme Court sent six death penalty cases back to the courts in Arizona for resentencing. The court's decision comes weeks after it released an earlier ruling in a death penalty case saying the sentencing was wrong.

At issue are cases in which a jury was not told that the defendant was ineligible for parole…so life without parole is not a legal option. The latest ruling from the nation's highest court was released without comment.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes and Governor Katie Hobbs are both looking at how the death penalty is administered in Arizona after a series of executions where the condemned prisoner appeared to suffer or execution teams had trouble placing IV lines.
