State Treasurer Kimberly Yee announced Monday that she is running for governor next year.
Yee is the first Republican of note to enter the race to succeed Governor Doug Ducey who is termed out of office next year.
Yee was a member of the Arizona Senate before being elected as State Treasurer in 2018.
Her announcement was made via a campaign video. In that video, she talks up her conservative credentials praising President Donald Trump and criticizing President Joe Biden.

She promises to secure the border and stop “socialist” policies.
Former Nogales Mayor, Marco Lopez announced in March that he is running for Governor as a Democrat.
