Latino children make up a quarter of all elementary school students in the U.S., but when it comes to figuring out speech disorders in bilingual children, 40 percent of speech-language pathologists say their own lack of knowledge may create diagnostic mistakes. University of Arizona researcher Leah Fabiano Smith is working on this issue which is critical for Arizona educators.
