The owner of a Tucson hospice facility was arrested Thursday after police found nine residents living in the sweltering home where the air conditioning had broken down.
Five of the residents were hospitalized. Four others were transferred to other care facilities.
Police arrested 71-year-old Cynthia Hermann, owner of Angelique’s Adult Care Home on East 8th Street, on multiple charges of vulnerable adult abuse and endangerment, both felony charges.
Tucson Police Department said in a news release Hermann knew the air conditioning had stopped working in the facility, but kept housing the tenants, who were in hospice or needed 24-hour nursing.
