Aerospace Company to Close Tucson Facility, Eliminating 413 Jobs

Company Rockwell Collins points to less demand for a certain kind of aircraft seating.

Rockwell Collins, an aerospace parts company that specializes in manufacturing luxury aircraft seating, told their employees in Tucson yesterday that their operations will come to an end Sept. 30.

The decision to close the facility will eliminate 413 full-time positions.

The company, which employs nearly 30,000 people worldwide, said in a statement released yesterday that the reason for the closure is the reduced demand for what it calls "super first class seating."

Rockwell Collins acquired its Tucson site, 1851 S. Pantano, in April of last year when it bought B/E Aerospace, another aerospace company.
