If you’re going camping over the holiday weekend, be extra careful with fire.
Fire restrictions will be in place starting Thursday for eight Southern Arizona Counties: Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham, Greenlee, Pinal, Gila, Navajo and Apache.
These are stage-one restrictions, meaning campfires are allowed in developed campsites and picnic areas as long as there’s a metal fire ring. All other outdoor fires are banned, as is smoking outdoors.
The restrictions also bar discharging any firearms, except for lawful hunting.
The restrictions are in place until further notice.
