State of the State and a Schools-Focused Budget

Education and the economy dominated the week's news from the Arizona Capitol.

In his State of the State address on Monday and subsequent budget released on Friday, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey presented some changes to education funding.

The speech, with the theme “Boundless Opportunity,” was well-received by Republicans and some Democrats. We sat down with Gov. Ducey this week to talk about his ideas, including how he plans to make permanent changes to school funding.

Arizona Week takes a closer look at some of the figures lawmakers will be wrestling with this year regarding education, cash assistance programs, and the border strike force.
