2015 Tucson Downtown Parade of LightsTucson’s annual holiday parade of lights and festival will fill downtown all day and evening Saturday.
In its 22nd year, festival events start at 9 a.m. and include children’s activities, photos with Santa, puppies to cuddle from the humane society, the historic steam locomotive, music, shopping, dining and entertainment.
Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will help light the Christmas tree in Armory Park at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a singalong.
The parade, with 70 entries and more than 2,000 participants, steps out at 6:30 p.m. from Stone Avenue and 17th Street, winding through downtown streets and ending at Armory Park.
City officials say plan to arrive in the city center early and watch for traffic detours. There is plenty of parking in garages, private surface lots and along streets.
