What’s the best way to save money on medical bills?
To stay healthy. And a new study from the United Health Foundation and the American College of Preventative Medicine shows Arizona falls behind most of the country for preventative care.
The report ranked Arizona ninth worst in the U.S. in terms of prevention.
The study looked at three areas:
- Access to health care, which included the percentage of adults with health care coverage, have a dedicated doctor and visit their dentist each year.
- The rate of immunizations.
- Access to chronic-disease-prevention, which factored in the percentage of people that have their cholesterol or blood pressure checked.
Arizona fell below the national average in all three.
Which states ranked the highest? They are all clustered in New England, and the No. 1 state for prevention was Massachusetts.
