Phoenix Airport Sets Passenger Record; Tucson Traffic Falls

44 million last year at Sky Harbor, while Tucson International declined 2%.

More than 44 million people flew through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2015, the most in the airport's history and a 4.5 percent increase over the previous year.

Meanwhile, 3.2 million people passed through the terminals of the Tucson International Airport, a drop of about 2 percent, according to data on the airport website.

The busiest day at the Phoenix airport last year was February 2, the day after the Super Bowl, which took place in Glendale.

The previous passenger record for Sky Harbor was set in 2007.

Phoenix has the ninth busiest airport in the country.
