AZ WEEK: Ducey Wants $31.5M for Border Drug Strike Force

Governor outlines priorities for 2016-17, including spending some of state's surplus.

Gov. Doug Ducey this week gave his second State of the State address, outlining his priorities for 2016. Friday, he released his budget proposal. Arizona Week looks at the implications for education, border security and other programs.

On the program:

  • AZPM reporter Christopher Conover traveled to Phoenix to hear the governor’s speech and talk to state leadership.
  • Host Lorraine Rivera interviews Gov. Ducey about his plan for improving the state’s education, the performance of the recently created border strike force and possibilities for Arizona’s budget surplus.
  • Tucson Metro Chamber VP of Government Affairs Robert Medler says Southern Arizona is working to shed the stigma that new businesses can’t thrive here.
  • The Buzz: Mike Sunnucks, senior writer at the Phoenix Business Journal, joins Rivera to break down the budget Ducey proposed.
