House Bill 2599 - State Park Funding

April 22, 2010 | AZPM

House Bill 2599 was amended so that it deals with funding of the state parks. HB 2599 would allow people registering vehicles in Arizona to donate money to the State Parks Board. That money would then be used for the operation of Arizona’s state parks. Currently, nearly half of Arizona’s 30 state parks are closed due to budget cuts. HB 2599 was further amended to make that donation mandatory for all first time vehicle registrations.

On April 22, 2010 the full Senate failed HB 2599 on a 14-14 tie.
