Christian Youth Theater is an after-school theater arts training program for students ages 6 to 18. The group was founded in 1981 in San Diego and has since grown to become the largest youth theater group in America.
The Tucson branch of the theater is known for staging ambitious productions of plays and musicals including Les Misérables and Suessical – shows that demanded a high level of professionalism from the young performers and crew.
The current Christian Youth Theater production is a musical adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic children’s book The Secret Garden, which was first published in 1911.
Featured in the cast are Lauryn Wallentine, who portrays Mary Lennox. This is Lauryn’s ninth CYT production. She has also played young Cosette in Les Misérables and Amaryllis in The Music Man.
Sara Sanderson, plays the maid servant Martha. Sara is also a veteran of CYT productions, appearing as Belle in Beauty and the Beast and as Sister in Pocahontas.
There will be four performances of The Secret Garden at Pima Community College from March 15th through March 17th, 2013.
