Dems Take 14 of 21 S. AZ Legislative Seats

Dems Farley, Bradley, Republicans Melvin, Griffin take Senate seats

Democrats took 14 of the 21 Southern Arizona legislative seats in seven districts in Tuesday's election.

Democrats Steve Farley and David Bradley and Republicans Al Melvin and Gail Griffin were elected to Senate seats, defeating their challengers. They join unopposed Senate Democrats Linda Lopez, Olivia Cajero Bedford and Lynne Pancrazi.

Melvin, from Saddlebrooke, and Griffin, from Sierra Vista, were reelected. Farley moves from the House to the Senate, and Bradley returns to the Legislature, having served eight years in the House last decade.

Bradley defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Frank Antenori.

In the House, District 2 Democrats Andrea Dalessandro and Rosanna Gabaldón won the two seats over Republican John Christopher Ackerley.

Legislative District 9 House Democratic candidate Victoria Steele and Republican Ethan Orr were winners.

Legislative District 10 House Democrats Stefanie Mach and incumbent Bruce Wheeler beat Republicans Todd Clodfelter and incumbent Ted Vogt.

Legislative District 11 House Republican candidates Adam Kwasman and Steve Smith were ahead of Democrat David Joseph.

In the Legislative District 14 House race, Republican incumbents David Gowan and David Stevens outdistanced Democrats Robert Leach and Mark Stonebraker for two seats.
