Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs took to the stage in Phoenix early on election night. She told her supporters that they would have to wait for final results.
Hobbs, who is the current Secretary of State, also had some strong words for her Republican opponent Kari Lake.
"We know my opponent and her allies have been sowing doubt and confusion throughout this campaign. And it's unacceptable that they were spreading misinformation today while people were exercising their freedom to vote," Hobbs said.
Republican candidate Kari Lake waited until later to address supporters in Phoenix. She remained optimistic about an eventual win in her remarks.
" We had a big day today, and don't let those cheaters and crooks think anything different. Don't let them doubt, don't let them put doubt in you," Lake said.
Lake and Hobbs are vying to replace Governor Doug Ducey who is termed out of office.
