Almost a dozen athletes from Tucson or with University of Arizona connections are taking part in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Tony Perkins spoke with Arizona Daily Star sports columnist Greg Hansen about Tucsonans making headlines at the Rio games.

Among them are Kevin Cordes, a former UA standout swimmer who specializes in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke; 41-year-old Bernard Lagat, a native of Kenya who moved to Tucson and is competing in his fifth Olympics in the 5000-meter run; and BMX cyclist Corben Sharrah, a native of Tucson who practiced for years on a course built by his father.
