The Pima County Recorder’s Office will allow people to opt-in to receive alerts when their names are used in documents filed.
The free service will send automated email alerts to residents when documents containing their names are filed at the Pima County Recorder’s Office.
The service was approved by the Pima County Board of Supervisors in May 2022, to act as an early warning of potential fraud to residents.
This year, the legislature required all counties to put a similar system in place by January 1, 2025.
Arizona counties are eligible to receive state funding to implement the protections. Counties that have already started to use or install the system will not receive any funding.
Pima County will not be receiving any funding because the recorder's office had been working on the email service for nearly a year before the bill was approved.
“There are many safeguards in place to prevent documents from being fraudulently recorded and our office has not encountered this issue. However, we decided soon after taking office that we wanted to provide this as a courtesy to our constituents to provide them with peace of mind,” Pima County’s Recorder Gabriella Cázares-Kelly said.
