Kari Lake was a news anchor in Phoenix for more than twenty years

Kari Lake launched a website Tuesday announcing her run for Governor of Arizona. She was a TV news anchor in Phoenix until earlier this year.

She resigned from her position at Fox 10 saying journalism had changed. At the time, the Arizona Republic reported that she was caught up in controversies after tweeting a debunked COVID-19 video and other issues tied to President Donald Trump.

Phoenix New Times reported that Lake recently spoke to a so-called Stop the Steal group.

Lake joins Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee and Arizona Board of Regents member Karrin Taylor Robson in the Republican primary.

Former Nogales Mayor Marco López announced earlier this year he is running as a Democrat.
