Arizona voter turnout last week totaled 47.5 percent of registered voters, continuing a downward trend in elections that fall on non-presidential years.
The Secretary of State's Office reported the final turnout figure was 1.5 million of the state's 3.2 million registered voters.
In 2010, the last election in a non-presidential year, 55.7 percent of Arizonans voted. In 2006, turnout was 60.5 percent.
The United States Election Project reported that 34.4 percent of Arizona's "voting-eligible population" turned out this year. Nationally, the voting-eligible population turnout averaged 36.4 percent.
The voting-eligible population is everyone, registered or not, who is a U.S. citizen and who has not lost the right to vote.
