Voters Say No To Prop 401

Proposition 401 to change city’s charter fails to win public's support.

Proposition 401 called for city charter changes, including holding city council elections once every four years, giving the mayor equal voting power with members of the City Council, and substantially increasing pay for the mayor and council members. Only Tucson residents could vote on Prop 401.

Pima County Democratic Chairman Jeff Rogers says Prop 401 supporters knew the salary increase could be a deal breaker. Nathan Mitchell reports:
