Partners hosting enrollment events, running ad campaigns for Affordable Care Act Signups.

Tucson’s largest hospitals have joined forces with several community organizations to help people sign up for health insurance through the state marketplace, under the Affordable Care Act.

The coalition, called SoAzCares, is hosting enrollment events, offering telephone support and running an ad campaign, all to spread the word about the February 15 enrollment deadline.

People who don’t sign up by then will have to wait for the next enrollment season, with coverage starting in 2016. Those with no insurance this year may face federal penalty fees.

Enrollment events are opportunities for people the get assistance choosing the right plan and completing the application process. The next will be at the University of Arizona Medical Center tomorrow.

Northwest Hospital and Tucson Medical Center will also host enrollment events over the next few weeks.

More than 160,000 Arizonans have signed up for coverage through the health insurance marketplace.
