Second Chance to Get Health Insurance Under Affordable Care Act

Open enrollment starts Saturday, Nov. 15 for those who didn't get covered last year.

Listen:

People who didn’t sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act earlier this year will have another opportunity to enroll starting Saturday, Nov. 15.

The second open enrollment period will last through mid-February, and during that time the city of Tucson is partnering with a number of local organizations, including El Rio Community Health Center, Tucson Medical Center and the Carondelet Health Network.

Partners will be hosting events throughout the enrollment period to help Tucsonans sign up for insurance, and find out what financial support and tax incentives are available to them.

Carol Klamerus, who got health coverage through the Affordable Care Act earlier this year, said her healthcare costs have come down since singing up and now she’s able to get treatments that were just too expensive before.

More than 18,000 Pima County residents, including Klamerus, got health insurance during the last open enrollment period.

One in 10 residents remain uninsured.
