Women earn 84 cents to every $1 their male counterparts are paid in Arizona, according to the National Partnership for Women and Families.
Arizona's gender pay gap is tied for eighth smallest in the U.S., and is about 5 cents better than the national average.
While the state outpaces the nation in gender biased pay rates, its lead is closing.
“Arizona has been holding steady around 84 cents. So it’s not getting any better for the women of Arizona either,” said Rachel Lyons, National Partnership for Women and Families' senior government affairs manager.
The national average has gone down by about a penny each of the last two years.
The analysis shows if women were paid the same as men, they would make about $7,029 a year more.
