A survey from the Arizona Farm Bureau showed the cost of Thanksgiving dinner in Arizona is $47.38 this year for a family of 10. That is a 3.5 percent increase over last year.

The rumored turkey shortage is not to blame for the increase in cost said the Farm Bureau’s Peggy Jo Goodfellow.

“There was the Asian flu among poultry but the recovery was good, the poultry farmers were immediately on top of the situation and now we have a good supply.”

The cost of turkey is down this year. The overall increase for the Thanksgiving meal comes from costlier sweet potatoes, whipping cream, rolls and pie shells.
