History Moment: Marist College

Built in 1915, Marist College is the only example of a three-story adobe building in Arizona--and home to a rich history by Kimberly Craft

When it was built in 1915, just three years after Arizona's statehood, Marist College represented the height of adobe construction. Even now, it remains the tallest adobe structure in southern Arizona and the only example of a three-story adobe building in the state. It is also one of Arizona's most endangered places.

Historian Demion Clinco talks about the building's importance, and the efforts of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation to save the building from collapsing.
