Pima Animal Care Center’s Animal Protection Services have removed 72 hoarded animals from two separate locations this past week.
On Saturday, Jan. 6, 24 dogs were rescued and just three days later– PACC’s APS recovered 48 cats on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The animals required significant veterinary treatment and will be held at the center for the duration of the investigations.
Although the rescued pets are not currently available for adoption, foster, or rescue, PACC is always looking to place available pets already in the shelter’s care.
In 2023, PACC had a total of 26 hoarding cases.
3,540 animals were surrendered by owners and 1,837 were confiscated.
Out of 17,081 living animals taken in by the center, 10,177 were adopted.
