Brewer: Influx of Immigrants 'Crisis Created by Obama'

Governor sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner asking him to address issue.

Gov. Jan Brewer Thursday sent a letter to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking to address the influx of tens of thousands of immigrants crossing into the U.S. illegally in recent weeks, a media release from the governor's office said.

Many of the apprehended are children traveling alone.

In the letter, Brewer referred to this as a "crisis manufactured by (President Barack) Obama, and his administration's refusal to enforce our nation's immigration laws."

About two weeks ago, Brewer sent another letter to Obama at news that families and unaccompanied minors, who were caught in the south Texan border, were dropped off by the Department of Homeland Security at bus stations in Tucson and Phoenix.

"...They are transporting, detaining and processing unaccompanied children in Arizona and then moving them to military bases in other states," Brewer said in the letter. "As we continue to learn more daily about this situation, it has become quiet clear that the chaos occurring at the Arizona-Mexico border is more than disconnecting - it is intentional and unconscionable."

In recent weeks, thousands of child immigrants have been caught in the Rio Grande Valley and then sent to Arizona, which caused immigration officials to open an emergency shelter in Nogales.

A shelter in Tucson is also underway.
