Listen:

The judges on the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled Monday that Arizona’s classes for English Language Learners in public schools are legally adequate.

The ruling stems from the Flores case, first filed in 1992 on behalf of children in the Nogales school district.

In this latest ruling, the judges wrote that Arizona’s plan, which includes four hours a day of English classes, is adequate.

They also wrote that keeping the ELL students in class for half a day does not illegally segregate them from other students.
