Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will report on the state of the city in his speech to the region's chambers of commerce and local government officials.

In the past, he outlined a plan for spurring tax revenue by encouraging economic development through job retention, job creation, and a marketing plan for the city. He called the plan the Five Ts: tourism, trade, transportation, technology and teaching.

"The 'Five Ts' build on our strengths: who we are and who we can become," Rothschild said in 2014.

More revenue is the only way to overcome state budget cuts, he said, while providing city services amid the still-recovering economy. All of this is in light of rising government costs such as retirement and health care.

In 2013 his speech highlighted opportunities for the city to partner with private businesses and other governments in Arizona and Mexico.

"We can do more together than alone," he said in 2013.

Another goal in past speeches has been ending veterans’ homelessness by 2015. Rothschild called that a realistic goal, and may update the progress this year.
