A new report funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse says the number of pills law enforcement seized containing fentanyl was 23-hundred times greater in 2023 than 2017, with more than 115 million pills seized last year.
Pills represented nearly half the fentanyl seized in 2023.
The report found that Arizona had the highest number of pill seizures and the second-highest number of overall seizures of powder and pills combined.
The report concluded that the number and size of fentanyl seizures is continuing to increase in the US, with the majority of seizures, especially in pill form, in the west.
