Hobbs said her initiative Task Force SAFE expands the state’s efforts to secure the border and fight the fentanyl epidemic by embedding 40 Arizona National Guard members at ports of entry in Nogales to help direct traffic through X-ray machines and search vehicles — part of more than 170 service members working on drug interdiction throughout the state.

“Protecting our border is not a Republican or Democratic issue, it is an Arizona and an American issue, and that's why I will work with anyone to secure our border,” Hobbs said at the Mariposa port of entry in Nogales. “Just as I worked with this current administration to launch Task Force SAFE, I will work with the next one to deliver border security.”

In regards to Trump’s promise of mass deportations, Hobbs said she wouldn’t tolerate policies that terrorize communities or threaten Arizonans, and that she will respond once she knows details on the incoming administration’s actions.
