Governor Katie Hobbs was in Sierra Vista Monday to dedicate a new border operations center that will allow local, state, and federal agencies to work together on criminal cases related to border security.

Hobbs says the center is part of a commitment to supply funding and resources to entities providing services around border issues.

“Bringing people together is not only the cornerstone of our approach to border security, it's how we're going to tackle all the tough challenges that we're facing," Hobbs said. "And I know that when it comes to the list of those challenges in Arizona, the border is at the top of that list.”

Hobbs says she’s allocated more than $100 million dollars to law enforcement, border communities, modernizing equipment, adding personnel, enhancing communication, and expanding capacity in some of the humanitarian efforts.

A spokesperson for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office told AZPM last year that the department was given $5 million from the Governor’s Office during the Ducey administration to purchase the building.
