Motor club AAA predicts nearly a third of Arizonans will travel between Dec. 21 and New Year's Day.
This year's estimate states 2.3 million state residents will travel more than 50 miles in that timeframe, with about 2 million doing so by car.
Weather forecasts continue to remain clear and warm in Arizona, but a spokesperson for the auto group said that does not mean conditions will be similar in travelers final destination.
"Give yourself a lot of extra time for traveling. It's going to be really busy on the road in general with traffic, but if you give yourself a lot of extra time, you can slow down your pace if you do run into some weather," said AAA Arizona's Julian Paredes.
He also recommends drivers carry a roadside emergency kit, snacks and water.
119.3 million Americans are expected to travel at year's end, putting Arizona about 4% below the national average.
