Teachers got a chance to participate in free professional development workshops, including one with education resource specialists from the Library of Congress, a workshop facilitated by Congressman Raul Grijalva.

Kathy McGuigan, with the Library of Congress Education Outreach Deparment, speaking to a crowd of teachers and future teachers at the "Meet the Library of Congress" workshop.More than 20 million digitized items, including manuscripts, maps, video files and photographs, are part of the collection at The Library of Congress as part of the Teaching With Primary Sources Program, library representative Kathy McGuigan said.
"We are thrilled to be here," McGuigan said. "We want to make sure that the teachers in Arizona, especially in Tucson, know about how to access this information."
Free books at Teacher DayThe number of free online resources for teachers has increased in the last few years and continues to grow. Those resources are useful to teachers especially after cuts to the state’s education budget. Last fall PBS launched PBS Learning Media, a public website where teachers and parents nationwide can stream educational content for free.
As part of the day-long event, PBS had an hour-long professional development workshop for teachers to learn how to navigate the website and use the videos and other educational materials in their own classrooms.
