The Pima County Board of Supervisors is using an extra $10 million in the coming months to try to repair some of the the pitted and crumbling roads suffering from lack of maintenance.
The supervisors pulled funding from the general fund, rearranged transportation funding scheduled for next year and plan to borrow some money to get the extra $10 million, Supervisor Richard Elías says.
"What we have done is put together a significant amount of money," Elías says. "The work has already started this week on a number of major roads as well as neighborhood roads."
The board wants to be careful about spending, Elías says, but also wanted to respond to requests from Pima County residents to fix the roads.
