Tucson Water has kicked of its 34th annual Beat the Peak water conservation campaign, but the summertime effort has been modified this year.
“Now, we are looking at really focusing on year-round water efficiencies, instead of just at summertime,” says Jeff Biggs, Tucson Water Director. “So, like every quarter of the year we’ll come out with topics and ideas for the public to conserve water year-round, not just during the summer.”
The theme for this year’s summer portion of the campaign is called It’s As Easy As 1-2-3 and it will focus on the efficient use of irrigation and landscaping.
Aside from heeding the conservation message, customers may have another incentive to use less water. Effective July 5, water rates will go up about 10 percent for the average customer.
